      J. Robert Ramsey, founder of the firm, began the practice of law in 1929 and continued until just weeks prior to his death in 1979. Wade Baxley joined the firm as partner in 1971 joining his father and Mr. Ramsey; and just a couple of years later, Joel Ramsey joined his father's firm and became a partner in 1973. In 1985, Charles McDougle joined Mr. Baxley and Mr. Ramsey becoming a third partner in Ramsey, Baxley and McDougle. Hamp Baxley (son of Mr. Wade Baxley) joined the firm upon graduation from law school and became a partner in 2003. In 2012, the firm was pleased to welcome Dustin Byrd as the fifth partner. After many years of dedicated service to the firm, effective as of October, 2012, Joel Ramsey, while not fully retired, has reduced his work hours from full time to part time and changed his status to "Of Counsel." The law firm is currently made up of four full-time partners, one part-time partner and a staff of six legal assistants.
